Daniel was born in Nova Scotia in 1869. He later emigrated to Boston Massachusetts where he worked on the railroad and married Jennie LaVaughn Archer. Around the turn of the century, he moved to Washington State and worked in the logging Industry. In 1908, he moved his family to Alberta, here he homesteaded in the Hardisty and Lac La Biche areas. In the late 1930's, he moved to Victoria, B.C., where he lived out the rest of his life.
